Some 300 men and women have sailed solo around the world. Of these, 200 took the clipper-ship route—west to east, passing below the five great capes. Gerry Hughes, 55, teacher and seasoned yachtsman, recently became the 201st. Spending 8 months aboard the Quest III, he fulfilled a long-cherished dream.
